Philpott, Peter
Peter Philpott was born in Martock, Somerset in 1949, later moving to Minehead, Somerset. He was educated at the University of Keele, and subsequently resident in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, almost programatically midway between Cambridge & London. Occupation: teaching English, then Media, at a local FE College (also film at University of Westminster). Married, two children etc etc. Ran Great Works Editions, producing a magazine, books & pamphlets, initially with Bill Symondson, through 1970s to beginning of the 1980s; performed as part of The Playground late mid-1980s; revived Great Works as a website in 2001.
His publications include What Was Shown (Ferry Press, 1980), Some Action Upon the World (Grosseteste, 1982), and he appeared in the anthology A Various Art (eds. Andrew Crozier & Tim Longville, Carcanet, 1987).
