. . . Protect the great and magic parts of the earth: Forests
Animals, oceans, plants. We must protect them
In this decade, give them all the power that we can . . .
Protect the strong and weak lights of the firmament,
So that they can unexpectedly be found
in the eyes of the unborn . . . .

The daylight whose invisible energies
Vanish in waves across the tops of fir trees . . .
If there were nothing there
To meet the waves from below
They would continue straight on downwards
In enormous blackness . . .

The entirely beautiful
Tiny face of the ant
Next to a spruce needle –
And she takes hold of the needle, coaxing
Its green splendour to its place
On its back,
Carries it home.

The earth’s
Faintly glowing
Egg
On a leaf. And the glowworm
Curved around it – like the weak, faraway
Light from our Galaxy: The Giving-of-birth.
