Hanne Bramness is one of the leading poets of her generation in Norway. In the eighties she lived in England and studied American literature, but has since lived in the Oslo area except for one year in Berlin. She is a poet, editor, translator and novelist. She won the Norwegian Poetry Club prize in 1996 and the prestigious Dubloug Prize from the Swedish Academy in 2006. Her books of poetry include Korrespondanse (Correspondance, 1983), I sin tid (In her time, 1986), Nattens kontinent (Night's continent, 1992), Revolusjonselegier (Revolution elegies, 1996), Regnet i Buenos Aires (Rain in Buenos Aires, 2002) and Salt på øyet (Salt on the eye, 2006). As a poet she has been particularly interested in memory and manipulations of memory, as well as in history and time.
