Liam Guilar has published five collections of poetry. He studied medieval literature and history at Birmingham University in the UK, where he was told he should ‘do something with Layamon’ for his Honours thesis. After moving to Australia, where he teaches English, he continued to ‘do something with Laamon’, completing a Masters degree on the poet and his audience and writing about him for PN Review.
